Clinical Services

Today, the PCFHC mainly provides treatment. It lets you turn to the services of a family doctor and other professional members of the Family Health Team. It also uses, organizes and shares your health information with health-care team members.

Well Woman's Clinic

The Well Woman's Clinic (WWC) is a program that will allow women in the community who do not have a primary care provider to receive basic healthcare services.

The WWC is not a walk-in clinic and all appointments are prebooked by calling 613-687-7641.

* Please note that you do not need to be a rostered patient of the PCFHC to book an appointment for the Well Woman's Clinic.

Once an appointment is made to see a Nurse Practitioner, patients are asked to print, review and complete the 'Well Woman's Clinic Agreement' and 'Well Woman Clinic - Petawawa Centennial Family Health Centre history form to bring with them to the appointment.

Collaborative Care Midwifery Clinic (CCMC)
The Collaborative Care Midwifery Clinic (CCMC) will provide:

1. Prenatal care from intake to 28 weeks. The Registered Midwife will be able to offer full prenatal care for the first and second trimester. At 28 weeks they will be referred to obstetrical care at Pembroke Regional Hospital. Any patient who is determined to be high risk will be referred to obstetrical care earlier.

2. Postpartum care: for mom and baby for the first 2 months. Postpartum midwifery care includes home visits, newborn care, breastfeeding support, referrals for newborn concerns, monitoring well-being of mother, and Paps. During this time effort will be made to secure a permanent care provider for the newborn when discharged from CCMC.

3. Well Woman Care: Paps and contraceptive counselling.

This program is funded by the Ministry of Health through the Expanded Midwifery Care Model program. The goal of the CCMC is to relieve the current strain on health care providers in Renfrew County while offering excellent midwifery care to a larger number of women and their families. We have the full support of Dr. Sarah Leavey, Chief of Obstetrics, at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. It is Dr. Leavey's preference that VTAC refer women directly to CCMC.

The clinic is located at the Petawawa Centennial Family Health Centre. Women can reach the PCFHC at 613-687-7641 and request an appointment with the Collaborative Care Midwifery Clinic.

Family Health Teams and Patient-Centred Care

A Family Health Team can include doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers and chiropodists. With a Family Health Team, you receive treatment from team members who are best able to help you. You benefit from the right medical help while conserving healthcare resources.

Family Health Teams support patient-centred care. Team members give you the information and support you need to take on more responsibility for your own care. Visit the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care website to learn more about Family Health Teams.
